If I Were Principal for A Day

Written by Maxim C., Langley Meadows Community School, Grade 5

If I was a principal for one day at a community school, I would start with announcing the rules that the students need to follow: no hurting people physically or spiritually, no trespassing and vandalizing the school property. No arguing with the staff. No stealing the school items. Be respectful to the people and environment around you. Note: please try to socialize with your peers and participate in community activities.

Secondly, I would politely ask the students not to brag about their fanciness and expensive items just to spread friendliness and peace. Also I would legally remove winter break so the kids can have fun playing in the snow. However, I would make a 7-day break on the week of Christmas so the kids can celebrate Christmas.

Thirdly, I would add subjects to the learning system. The students will study math, science, socials, geometry, STEM, social emotional learning, statistics and astronomy. The students could sign up for sports teams like soccer, badminton, baseball and basketball. There will be other indoor clubs like Chess club and Lego club. The clubs will be held on Wednesdays after school.

Lastly, I would introduce Fun Trips. The students will experience waterparks and museums. Also, the students will be allowed to enter into a soccer team, playing against other school districts. They will be competing for the Community Cup.

In all, this school will spread freedom, peace and inclusivity. Everyone will love to go there.
