If I Were Principal for A Day
Written by Anna C., Peter Ewart Middle School, Grade 7
If I were a principal for a day, I would have three simple rules in order to run a good school. My first rule would be, every month or so, we would have a field trip, but not just any field trip, a field trip that is educational and something that you can learn, like a field trip to the museum or the art gallery. I would also have a fundraiser so that the people that are financially struggling or if they can’t afford field trips, we could just pay for them with some of the money, and the rest of the money will be used to buy more gym equipment because no one ever likes those smelly pinnes!
My second rule would be wearing uniforms during school hours is highly recommended to promote equality in what people wear, because I’ve noticed many people tend to brag about how expensive their clothing is and that really bugs me. Uniforms also boost your self-esteem and confidence, so you don’t have to worry about what other people think about your outfit, and instead you can focus on schoolwork and education, not brands and looks.
My third and final rule would be being kind to one another, because in many schools kids are mean to their classmates so I would encourage them to be kind and respectful to each other and if anyone had a problem, I would strongly advise them to come to me and talk about it.
Overall being a principal sounds fun but there’s a lot of responsibilities to go with it, I would love to be a principal if I got the opportunity to be one!
